California Native Plant Society

CNPS Education Program

The CNPS Education Program coordinates educational programs, workshops, and stewardship projects for all ages, levels of knowledge, and enthusiasm. Our mission is to provide people with opportunities to engage with nature and develop ecological awareness, to study native plant diversity, and to conserve our native flora using sound scientific practices.

Within this section of our website, you will find resources and curricula for teachers, naturalists, community groups, scouting groups, families, and students, from kindergarten through post doctorate. We encourage you to turn off your computer, go outside and enjoy the landscape - take the time to smell California’s wild roses. And, if you want to learn more about what you are seeing, get your hands in the soil, or want to study /contribute to native plant and habitat conservation, please check out our resources by following the links on the left.

Check with your local chapter for their field trips, evening or weekend programs, and opportunities to volunteer. Throughout the state, chapters hold native plant sales and wildflower shows annually or bi-annually. Most are free and open to the public. Visit our Horticulture page or contact your local chapter for information or workshops on propagation, landscape and garden uses of native plants.
