Sustainable Conference

Thank you for helping to make this conference as clean, "green," and sustainable as possible. We are striving for low-waste and carbon-neutrality. Collectively CNPS wants to preserve and conserve California native plants and their ecosystems. So, to be consistent with our mission, we want to extend conservation and sustainability to every aspect of our organization. Help us make a “green” statement at this Conference and beyond. Look for more information on carbon off-sets, rideshare and room-share ideas, soon

SPONSORS
Green sponsors are welcome to support the CNPS Conservation Conference and sponsors are encouraged to support the green efforts of the conference.

TRANSPORTATION
As you make plans to travel to Sacarmento, we hope you will consider modes of travel which will have the least impact on the environment and reduce greenhouse gases to at least a neutral impact. You may wish to make your own arrangements for carbon offsets, but CNPS will offer suggestions, as the time gets closer.

See Transportation information for a list of public transportation modes from the Sacramento Airport and the Downtown Amtrak Station.

RIDESHARE
We will post rideshare information (very soon) for those who need to drive, share cabs, or make contacts with others from your area traveling to the conference.

ROOMSHARE
There will be opportunities to match roommates at the Sheraton Grand Hotel or arrange homestays with local CNPS chapter members. Stay tuned.

ENERGY REDUCTION
Sacramento is leading the way in reducing energy consumption at the Convention Center. The Sacramento Convention and Visitors Bureau has partnered with SMUD, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, or "green power" produced from renewal resources which helps the Center offset its carbon use. In addition the Center has instituted energy reductions in their lighting, heating and cooling. The Sheraton Hotel has also done energy savings.

RECYCLE
Exhibitors, presenters and participants can all help in reducing solid waste at the Conservation Conference.
CNPS is committed to reducing the amount of paper we produce for the
Conference. Please, consider ways to reduce paper handouts and to recycle

FOOD AND BEVERAGE
CNPS is working with the Venue caterers to use a percentage of local, in-season food (organic, if possible).
There will be no single use plastic bottles.
You may bring your own environmentally friendly container.
A list of "healthy" restaurants for us and the environment will be compiled, hopefully within walking distance.

We welcome your suggestions now and at the conference. There will be a Sustainable Conference table at the Registration area where you will be able to purchase Carbon offset credits.

Remember, REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

THINK CONSERVATION FOR NATIVE PLANTS,
for Ourselves, and for Our Communities
