About the Conference

The CNPS 2009 Conservation Conference: Strategies and Solutions will use the latest scientific information and policy tools to identify the most effective strategies and solutions for California plant conservation in the 21st century. Over 1,000 leading scientists, conservationists, researchers, policy makers, planners, and resource managers from around the state are expected to participate.

This is the first statewide plant conservation conference since 1986. It will address urgent threats facing plant conservation in California and identify the most promising opportunities for collaboration and expanded efforts. Together, we can achieve ambitious conservation goals for the 21st century!

About the California Native Plant Society

Founded in 1965, CNPS is California’s preeminent plant science organization devoted to integrating conservation, education, community participation, and policy. Our mission is to increase understanding and appreciation of California’s native plants and to conserve them and their natural habitats through science, education, advocacy, horticulture, and land stewardship.

With state offices in Sacramento and 33 active chapters across the state, CNPS is best known for projects such as: the Manual of California Vegetation; the online Rare Plant Inventory; and our popular native plant sales, wildflower shows, field trips and technical workshops fine tuned over 40 plus years. CNPS is proud to be the organizer of the 2009 Conservation Conference: Strategies and Solutions.
